About

Hi I’m Wallace! I’m a data engineer in Christchurch, New Zealand. I work for a software consultancy called Simple Machines.

Outside of work, I enjoy getting out in the New Zealand outdoors tramping, hunting, fishing, and most recently, kayaking.

I started this blog for a combination of reasons. Firstly to ramble on things I find interesting, both tech and non-tech related. Secondly, because I believe attempting to explain something in a blog post will help solidify that thing in my mind (as well forcing me to do a bit of research at the same time to ensure what I’m writing is correct!). And finally, because I enjoyed writing while at school and university, but don’t need to do it nearly enough in everyday life. So in part, writing a blog to me is a way to practice the skills of writing itself, communicating ideas, and also teaching concepts.

Also, I’ve made a website called House Pricer which uses machine learning to predict house prices in Christchurch. Check it out here!
